Our dear friend, Rudolfo Anaya, author of Bless Me, Ultima and myriad other reads, was a beautiful man, an exceptional leg rubber, always had great wine, and was generous of spirit. He wrote a book after his wife died, entitled ‘An Old Man’s Love Story’. It was about a man awash in loss, trying to find himself, brand new, in unfamiliar territory. Walking days, alone and mystified, about how to make it all work.
In response, we wrote Going Home and dedicated it to him. Gave it to him. It moved Rudy, and that made us tremendously happy and grateful.
About ‘Going Home‘: The spirit of Mark Twain arrives, bearing miracles and wisdom for a grieving man, bestselling author, Lewis Evans. Twain asks him to toss everything he believes aside to make a new life, and possibly see his wife again. In a climactic scene, cradled by hot springs in a Natchez Native American ceremony of renewed life, Lewis begins to understand this quest. He faces down hard truths and blazing light with the force of love . . . and all will carry him home.
“Going Home is a wonderful, sensitive novel, with passages of poetry and philosophizing in just the right places. What a great idea, rolling with the river, river towns and music, and the people unique at each place along the river. Having Mark along for conversations hit the right tone. I am sure the book will live in readers’ hands for a long time, especially those needing to communicate with their dreams, loss, and renewal.” —Rudolfo Anaya, Bless Me, Ultima
“Going Home deftly strips sorrow to its bare bones even as it buoys the heart with memories of timeless love, humorous exchanges, and the unimagined and mysterious power of suspended disbelief. I couldn’t put it down.” —Na’ama Yehuda, author of Emilia

Rudy, I hope you and Win are chatting far into the night, over there, in the Great Beyond, you drinking wine and Win drinking whiskey. Sending you both eternities of love.
